Babar, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. The problem is that the installer cd boots into a blank screen with back light turned on. In case of 10.10 I managed to install using the kernel parameter "i915.modeset=0" but after installation it would boot into same situation. It boots fine cause I can actually here all the sounds and can login with out having any thing on the screen. Using the same "i915.modeset=0" I managed to boot into command line and setup my wireless and do a system update hoping it might fix the issue but invain. In case of 11.04 I managed to install using the nomodeset option. After installation system would boot into blank screen. Giving nomodeset during boot would take me to non-unity grpahical desktop. I upgraded the system and even installed kernel ppa to get the latest kernel but booting in that too does not fix my problem. Currently I am running my ubuntu 11.04 in nomodeset on kernel 2.6.39-0 -generic-pae. I have found bugs 554569 and 585651 similar to mine but both them should have been fixed in the kernel version I am running.
