The problem is that the installer cd boots into a blank screen with back light turned on. In case of 10.10 I managed to install using the kernel parameter "i915.modeset=0" but after installation it would boot into same situation. It boots fine cause I can actually here all the sounds and can login with out having any thing on the screen. Using the same "i915.modeset=0" I managed to boot into command line and setup my wireless and do a system update hoping it might fix the issue but invain. In case of 11.04 I managed to install using the nomodeset option. After installation system would boot into blank screen. Giving nomodeset during boot would take me to non-unity grpahical desktop. I upgraded the system and even installed kernel ppa to get the latest kernel but booting in that too does not fix my problem. Currently I am running my ubuntu 11.04 in nomodeset on kernel 2.6.39-0 -generic-pae. I have found bugs 554569 and 585651 similar to mine but both them should have been fixed in the kernel version I am running.
