KesieV, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Backlight is not restored on imac9,1

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
On imac9,1, after changing terminal with ctrl-alt-F1, switching user,
suspending or invoking "xset dpms force suspend" directly, the backlight of the
monitor is kept off if starting with any backlight level except for the maximum.
imac9,1 loads apple_bl kernel module, which wrongly turns off the screen when
undebacklight level is <= 2/15 of the level (screen turns on only going over
~13/15) and probably these two issues could be related. Patching the driver in
order to skip these last two brightness levels didn't solved anything.
