Dear Christopher,

The computer in question is not operational anymore and thus cannot be
tested. Thus for me it is not an issue.

Best Regards,
Marek

Title:
Touching the mousepad while typing causes multiplication of next
letter pressed and loss of subsequent keyboard input

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-synaptics” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
In my Compal JFL92- laptop running Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty I have a problem
that becomes apparent while typing text and (usually accidentally)
touching the mousepad at the same time. The next letter I press after
the mousepad gets multiplied, the keyboard gets 'stuck' and loses some
following keyboard input until the system recovers.

Example: mousepad followed by s -> sssssssssssss.

I tested the problem also with Ubuntu 9.04 and 8.10 live-cds. With the 9.04 I
could replicate the problem, but with 8.10 I could notice some lag of the
keyboard input appearing on screen but no loss or replication of characters as
with 9.04.
I've also noticed some hpet output in dmesg like this:

CE: hpet increasing min_delta_ns to 15000 nsec

Even with disabling hpet the problem persists.

  dmesg attached.
