Haven't forgotten this ... give me a few more days. It is really cool
someone is looking at it.

Title:
  Xorg freeze

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This bug is in 12.10 13.04 and 13.10 (I've been waiting to see if
  would go away ;-)

When the system comes back from suspend the screen is black. Changing
virtual terminals does nothing. If I have a program that makes sound,
such as "Alarm Clock" the sound plays. I.e. the system appears to be
alive but lacking a screen driver. Cntrl-Alt-Del has no noticable
  result.

The only way out of this state I can figure out is to re-power the
  machine.

A system update recently changed the close lid back to suspend, so
closing the lid kills the video.

I suppose it is clear from the uploaded information, but just in case,
  this is an Acer 7250.

  Thanks!
