downloaded 'trusty' ;-) yes, once the lid is closed then opened the screen is blank, and actually it appears the system is hung, but it is hard to know for sure.
Also it boots without a mouse between 1/2 and 2/3 of the time, so it requires multiple boot attempts to get the mouse to appear. The run from usb stick does not keep information between bootups. Hence, the WIFI settings must be re-entered on every boot, and then apport must be installed again. It stands to reason that the apport report will not have any useful data, because a reboot is required after it crashes when the lid is closed, so as to get a terminal to run apport from. The three of those demons all play together! I've been at this for a good couple of hours just to get the lid shut, opened, and to send a report. I might humbly suggest, that for the 'run from usb' not to store any data is a bit over the top in terms of making debugging difficult, you all might should change that. I'm not able to do an install to disk because the Fedora disk partitioner has made a pretty mess on the prior install. They have gone 'minalmist' and virtual, but it gave all sorts of errors and left holes on the disk. (Yes I filed a bug on that, and yes of course there was no data in the apport report because the disk had to be repartitioned between runs ...) I'm afraid to touch that house of cards, gosh if I break the system while traveling I will be in quite a fix! Good luck with the debugging! Thomas BTW Fedora 19 has both of these problems on Acer 7250 also. On 2014-01-09 07:49, Christopher M. Changing virtual terminals does nothing. If I have a program that makes sound, such as "Alarm Clock" the sound plays. I.e. the system appears to be alive but lacking a screen driver. Cntrl-Alt-Del has no noticable result. The only way out of this state I can figure out is to re-power the machine. A system update recently changed the close lid back to suspend, so closing the lid kills the video. I suppose it is clear from the uploaded information, but just in case, this is an Acer 7250.
