Title:
On upgrade to Maverick, hibernate and suspend do nothing
Status in “pm-utils” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
On upgrade to Maverick, hibernate and suspend both run, emit some
messages to the console, then give the login screen. At no time is the
machine shut down.
This is a regression for suspend, which operated last night.
This is also a regression for hibernate. It has worked in the past,
but I have not had access to it since upgrading to Lucid. See Bug
#597938 for details.
These two lines from /var/log/syslog may be relevant:
Nov 7 14:50:16 dragon kernel: [ 8814.954082] PM: Cannot find swap device,
try swapon -a.
Nov 7 14:50:16 dragon kernel: [ 8814.954135] PM: Cannot get swap writer
However, something is finding swap space:
root@dragon:~# free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1253 714 539 0 41 245
-/+ buffers/cache: 426 826
Swap: 3671 107 3563
Total: 4924 822 4102
root@dragon:~#
Swap is encrypted and the kernel finds it at boot:
Nov 7 09:24:19 dragon kernel: [ 28.090385] Adding 3759172k swap on
/dev/mapper/cryptswap1. Priority:-1 extents:1 across:3759172k
Is it possible that suspend and hibernate do not operate with
encrypted swap?
Checking the release notes, I see nothing that suggests any problem.
This machine (http://www.charlescurley.com/Lenovo.R51.html) has no USB
3.0 hardware.
