brightness of display is reset after suspend or sleep mode

Bug description:
After going into sleep or suspend mode, the brightness of display is
no longer set at the original level. The special function keys in the
keyboard (using 'Function' key) do not provide a steady increase in
brightness. This happens for Dell Inspiron 6400.
