X server freeze

Bug description:
I'm getting X freezes that matches the description of the problem
listed here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze on a new
ubuntu 11.10 install on a Thinkpad T60. The freeze has happened on
several occasions: a few times while on wifi with libreoffice and
firefox open, other times when the laptop was idle with only firefox
running on ethernet.
dmesg says:
