I'm running Friday's daily build (3/14/2014), fully up to date as apt- get update && apt-get dist-upgrade yields nothing available, and I am still having this issue. In fact out of 12 to 15 boots I only saw it twice, but just not I had to reboot about 14 times to get a boot that allowed me to log in.
Is there something in the 3/15 daily that the 3/14 excludes, even from a dist-upgrade level that might yield a fix? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity-greeter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1255558 Title: Can't type my password after cold boot Status in “unity-greeter” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Can't type my password after cold boot unless I change my keyboard layout to next (or change and then re-change to same layout) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: lightdm 1.9.3-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.12.0-4.10-generic 3.12.1 Uname: Linux 3.12.0-4-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.7-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Nov 27 16:27:13 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-11-19 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Alpha amd64 (20131119) SourcePackage: lightdm UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter/+bug/1255558/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
