system freezes and crashes few seconds/minutes after I unplug power
cable

Bug description:
I use Ubuntu 11.04 Natty. pm-utils 1.4.1-7.
When I try to work on battery, OS in my notebook freezes, hangs and crashes.
I cannot do anything. No response at all.
The only thing I can do is to hold power button few seconds to power off my
notebook and power it on again so I can continue my work.
Also, if I try to put notebook to sleep - it's going to sleep but never fully
resumes. HDD and fan are starting to work but screen remains blank and keyboard
isn't responding to anything at all. After that - even if I hold power button
to power off my notebook and later power it on - screen still remains blank,
keyboard not responding, system doesn't boot. I can boot again only when I take
out the battery.
