login freezes
Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
In a fresh installation of 11.04 automatic login to the default user
fails with the system hanging.
The only way to get around this is to have the user's automatic login
disabled and login from the login window instead.
I've been able to 'start/stop gdm' and have it sometimes open up to
the default user account.
