Thank you for your bug report, what Ubuntu version do you use? That
issue seems similar to the one fixed with that upload:
gnome-desktop3 (3.2.0-0ubuntu3) oneiric; urgency=low
* debian/patches/00git_disable_dpms_timeouts.patch:
- Disable DPMS timeouts (LP: #863038)
Do you still get the issue?

Title:
gnome-screensaver locks after approx 10 minutes even if user settings
are specify longer
Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
After setting a screen lock timeout of, for example, 1 hour the screen
still locks after approx 10 minutes.
Looking at the code it appears gnome-screensaver puts an upper bound
on the lock timeout of 480 seconds (8 minutes), so user preferences of
1 hour will not function as expected.
I see no reason for an upper bound of 8 minutes, and this contradicts
the available options anyway.
I have built a fixed version in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~andrew-
betts/+archive/misc
