Same problem here. This is absolutely fundamental to my day job, and is something I took for granted.
As an aside, File Roller is great for detecting and opening all sorts of files even if they don't have a logical (i.e. a known archive format) extension. It seems this functionality has been sadly lost. Definitely a regression which needs fixing asap, as Ubuntu is used primarily as a development platform by many. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/877256 Title: Can't open ".war" format since Oneiric (java) Status in File Roller: New Status in “file-roller” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “file-roller” source package in Oneiric: Confirmed Bug description: Not supportin ".war" archive format.
