Bug description:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
pulseaudio is installed, and configured for per-user sessions
$ sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio start
* PulseAudio configured for per-user sessions
However, I see no volume control, and the sound preferences stalls
"Waiting for sound system to respond".
I do have sound as I'm able to skype and play music, but I can't
control the volume.
