I think this kind of bug is a bit unnecessary. The only reason you
experienced this bug was because you were running -proposed during the
development cycle. Ubuntu has safeguards in place that prevents the new
version of ppp from reaching regular bionic until these version
incompatibilities are fixed (by rebuilding the packages).
