FYI, I am against this removal. xchat-gnome is the only gtk3 irc client in Ubuntu, which is natively compatible with Wayland going forward.
hexchat is a gtk2 application which should probably get removed seeing as how we are trying to deprecate the gtk2.0 package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xchat-gnome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1758163 Title: Please remove xchat-gnome from Ubuntu (again) Status in xchat-gnome package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: xchat-gnome is unmaintained. It was removed from Debian and Ubuntu 17.04. It was reintroduced to Ubuntu but without any real commitment to maintain the package. Its last upstream release was 9 years ago https://download.gnome.org/sources/xchat-gnome/0.26/ The Ubuntu version is a bizarre mix up of a git snapshot and 37 patches. Users would be better off switching to hexchat which is actually maintained. See also https://launchpad.net/bugs/1753169 for xchat, a somewhat different app with the same general problem.
