I have no idea what package handles the login. According to the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage) if one encounters a bug at the login screen, the package is the display manager, which is LightDM in Ubuntu 11.10 or above.

I waited like 20 minutes if anything would show up, but nothing, I can just see the cursor and the wallpaper nothing else, I had to manually turn off/on the computer multiple times, in order to see the boot manager again. If I enter the correct password at the first attempt, the desktop loads and everything works just fine.
