Hello Kgaertner,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2010 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 514030
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
Error in "pushing" mail to smtp.live.com (hotmail)
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: thunderbird
In the Ubuntu version of Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 popping mail from pop3.live.com
com works well on port 995 with SSL. However "pushing" fails to smtp.live.com
while it works on the windows version -frustrating. I've tried doing smtp to
several ports (25/ 465/ 587...) with/ without TLS/ SSL and tried changing a lot
of parameters in about:config, but nothing seems to do it.
Solutions? (BTW: Tried Mozilla TB v 3.1 but it have a password bug).
I'm running Karmic Koala
