Hello David,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the
authentication mechanism in Evolution.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Evolution since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 886537

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Evolution better.

Title:
cannot abort testing of authentication mechanism

Status in evolution package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This is fresh installed VM in which I installed evolution and removed
thunderbird. During the initial configuration if the IMAP server I
press the "test authentication" button (not sure what it's called in
englisch since I have a german locale). The test never returns and
abort does nothing. I can close the dialog's window but evelution
remains inactive and must be killed.
