Hello Barry,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.
You made this bug report in 2013 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

Title:
Impossible to set new mail account manually
Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
This is similar to bug #643280 and bug #917069, but not the same in
that I get a warning message saying that Thunderbird can allow the
configuration but I should contact the administrator. The warning box
gives two options only - 'Change Settings' and 'Done', but the latter
is greyed out so I cannot procede. The server I am setting up is at
crosswire.org, and is working perfectly well on another machine using
the same settings I am now using, so obviously Thunderbird used to
allow me to use this server in an earlier release - we are talking
maybe two years ago though.
