Title:
package hplip 3.11.7-1ubuntu3.1 failed to install/upgrade:
ErrorMessage: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Status in hplip package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
While upgrading from Ubuntu 11.4 to 11.10 (there was an automatic
invitation to do so while starting 11.4), the upgrade programm, after
downloading upgrade packages and during the last 5% of the
installation process, came up with an error message concerning hplip
configuration problem and with an invitation to send an automatic
error report, which I followed. The whole thing was a rather complex
and troubling procedure. No idea what is hplip, which I was adviced
might be malfunctioning. For the rest the installation of 11.10 seems
to have been successful, even if getting aquainted with new desktop
handling of 11.10 is painful. If needed, I will try to provide further
details on hplip error report.
Kind regards
Wolfgang Kirchhof
PS:
A great and very agreable surprise of 11.10 was the new driver for Epson
Stylus SX 215, which eventually does print successfully after total failure
since ubuntu 9.10 two years ago. Many, many thanks.
