You made this bug report some time ago and Ubuntu and hplip have been updated
since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to
this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run
the following (only once):
apport-collect 1496994
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

After the installation displays a dialog `Plug-in installation
successful` it display another dialog
Failed to install Plug-in.
Either you have chosen to skip the Plug-in installation or entered
incorrect Password.
which doesn't make any sense (both the sequence of dialogs and the
possibility of an incorrect password (the installation dialog doesn't
allow those)). The user is left without any ideas what went wrong. The
precise reason and instructions or tips how to fix them should be
provided.
