Hello Peter,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the
system-config-printer package. You made this bug report in 2016 and Ubuntu and
the system-config-printer package have been updated since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to
this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run
the following (only once):
apport-collect 1625313
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

Title:
system-config-printer 1.5.7 will not enable
Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Updated from Lubuntu 14.04LTS to Lubuntu 16.04LTS - printer no longer works.
The enable check box can be checked, but after clicking Apply there is a
delay of about two seconds and it reverts to not enabled.
This is a 64 bit installation on a ThinkPadX61.
My 32 bit installation on an Acer Aspire One netbook (also version 1.5.7)
does not have this problem.
However, neither installation can connect to the scanner function of my Canon
MG3150.
Lubuntu 16.04.1
Print job appears in the queue as pending
Printer state: Stopped - Rendering completed
