GNOME Software doesnt seem to support appstream:// URLs

Bug description:
I'd like to be able to link directly to GNOME Shell extensions from,
for example, a web page.
On Bionic running:
xdg-open appstream://ShellUtilites_obsidian.github.com
Does open GNOME Software as expected, but GNOME Software gives an
error "Failed to install: not supported"
