Title:
Lock screen corrupt since upgrade to 18.04.01

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Immediately after upgrade to 18.04.01 from 16.04.01, the lock screen
of this laptop (an HP 6910p) became corrupt. When logged in and using
the system, video display is fine, but the lock screen is consistently
garbled as in the attached photo. Switching to Wayland made no
  difference in this behavior.
