Title:
[feisty] sftp:// and other system registered handlers broken in FF

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

When you type in protocol which cannot be handled by firefox, but is
registered to Gnome system, Firefox does nothing. "Loading" text is
shortly shown in the status bar, after which it turns to "(Untitled)"
  blank page.

  Suggestion (in this preference order):

  1. Open handlers in corresponding application (e.g. nautilus)

  2. Show an error page

  3. Show an error dialog
