Unfortunately extensions have free access to everything in the shell and
so can easily break any part of the shell.

Why this problem only affects Ubuntu is likely related to Ubuntu-
specific changes. That does not suggest those Ubuntu changes are faulty,
only different to the other distros.

Since the extension 'desktop-icons-ng-ding' is not part of Ubuntu we are
unable to track bugs related to it here.

Title:
Installing just one extension makes Ubuntu Eoan to fail

Status in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
You can find the information about the bug here.
  https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/installing-just-one-extension-makes-
  ubuntu-eoan-to-fail/12816

  How to reproduce?
  Install this extension from
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/2087/desktop-icons-ng-ding/ in Ubuntu
19.10 development release.

Then, install the same in Fedora 30, or Arch with Gnome. Gnome shell
works in those distros, or any other, but fails in Ubuntu 19.10.
Ubuntu simply crashes, after clicking on Show Applications button.

Why this extension over the system one?
Because it allows drag and drop to and fro from the desktop folders and back.
