Esokrates, please don't confirm your own bugs. However, I can confirm that the Appearance tab appears when logging in to an Ubuntu session and that the crash occurs when selecting the various colour options.

Therefore it would be appreciated to only show the appearance tab when using the ubuntu-session. If this is not possible please create a separate package gnome-control-center-ubuntu since I want to be able to use gnome-shell as intended by upstream without the ubuntu modifications being forced on me.
