The segfault sounds like bug #1874583 , bug #1870758 is also about nvidia issues

Observe that upon the screen coming back, the Settings application has crashed. Additional details: If instead of selecting "150%" or "175%" I select "125%", then the screen will scale to 200% instead, but if I select and apply "125%" again, then suddenly only just over of a quarter of the screen is recognised as display and the rest just displays my background and top bar extended. I am using a 4k display over a display port cable. I am using a GTX 1070 TI with the Nvidia 440.64 driver.
