I have also found this to be true when I click "Language" and it should ask me to install additional software packages as I don't have them all for my selected language, but instead, nothing happens... In terms of Terminal output I find that at first when I launch the gnome-control-center I get this: ** (gnome-control-center:9882): WARNING **: Ignoring launcher gufw (missing desktop file) ** (gnome-control-center:9882): WARNING **: Ignoring launcher landscape-client-settings (missing desktop file) ** (gnome-control-center:9882): WARNING **: Ignoring launcher language-selector (missing desktop file) ** (gnome-control-center:9882): WARNING **: Ignoring launcher ubuntuone-installer (missing desktop file) Then when I go into the "Region & Language" section I get this: (gnome-control-center:9882): common-cc-panel-WARNING **: Language en_GB.UTF-8 not installed, trying to install it When I try to install a language I get this: (gnome-control-center:9882): common-cc-panel-WARNING **: Language aa_DJ not installed, trying to install it And finally when I close the gnome-control-center as nothing more has happened I get this: (gnome-control-center:9882): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_destroy: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed Though on some occasions all does work as it should, I would say that at least half the time it does not, but if it is working one way it will not work another way unless you restart the gnome-control-center, or at least I have found that to be true. I have found this issue on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.18 (32-bit) and Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with GNOME 3.18 (64-bit).
