I have asked the upstream maintainer, Zdenek Dohnal, to spin a release
before 22.04 FF. This would be much better than a backport.

Title:
backport GH #247 for Ubuntu 22.04 release to break python3-requests
  dependency

Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Pull request #247 to the upstream system-config-printer project
  removes the dependency on python3-requests:

  https://github.com/OpenPrinting/system-config-printer/pull/247

As I understand it, this is the last dependency on python3-requests in
  the default desktop image:

  https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/germinate-
  output/ubuntu.jammy/rdepends/requests/python3-requests

so backporting this change would allow the removal of python3-requests
(and probably python3-chardet and python3-idna) from the desktop
  image.

Thanks very much for your time.
