Thanks, it's not an issue with debian-cd but with the switch to the new
canary image and invalid kernel option.
Adding layerfs-path=minimal.standard.live.squashfs to the kernel
parameter should workaround it
The issue has also been fixed in debian-cd now which is what sets the
default so the next ISO build should work again

Bug description:
Testing Ubuntu Lunar daily ISO dated 2022-12-20
When attempting to install Lubuntu Lunar the "Install or Try Ubuntu
icons never appear on desktop after boot. The desktop appears after
booting but is empty (shows only background wallpaper) See attached
screenshot.
Test 2 machines 1. Dell Optiplex 7060 running in UEFI + secure boot
mode.and 2. Dell Optiplex 704 running in UEFI mode.
Will attach syslog and casper log files
