Further to comment #2 and looking at the attached syslog I see that this bug report needs moving to a specific package within the Ubuntu project - may be gnome-shell, mutter, gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock or gnome-shell-extension-dashtodock.
Moving to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock for now. At least the Desktop Team will now see this bug report. ** Package changed: ubuntu => gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock (Ubuntu) ** Tags added: noble -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2081602 Title: gnome-shell dockManager is null Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: After resuming from suspending my laptop, i.e., opening my laptop, the docker is replaced with a recycling symbol. If I restart the gnome- shell with "alt-F2 r", I get a message about something has gone wrong, all my windows are gone, and the only option for me is to logout. I expect that when I open my laptop's lid, that I be presented with a login prompt, and then resume the suspended session. % lsb_release -rd No LSB modules are available. Here's what follows after gnome-shell crashed, and I logged in again. I have attached the relevant (I hope) part of /var/log/syslog.
