well, this was sort of intentional: we would like to reserve ourselves the
right to change the notebook implementation (e.g. switching to a docking widget
or something like that). That's why it is not exported in the public api.

That said you can easiliy get an handle to the notebook by walking the gtk
hierarchy. See the showtabbar plugin in gedit-plugins for an example.

  Hi

  this is rather a feature request than a bug.

  I want to have the open tabs in gedit sorted by usage and would like
  to write a plugin for that but unfortunately i can not access the
  notebook class which handles the sorting of the open tabs.

  This is the exported notebook class but you can't get a handle on this.
