Cannot add spell check languages to empathy

Bug description:
Preamble:
I've installed the "Portuguese" language pack in "Language Support"
configuration tool.
What I expect to happen:
After checking the Portuguese language in Empathy's preferences dialog ->
spell-checking tab, I expect it to remain selected.
What happened instead:
After closing Empathy's preferences dialog and reopening it, the Portuguese
language is unchecked, disabling me from using Portuguese spell-check.
