Title:
  Network-manager displays wrong ESSID name

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
At my University we have two different wifi systems. An visible, protected
network named 'WLAN', and a hidden, free accessible network called 'GUEST'.
Normally I connect to this hidden GUEST network, and this works fine.
However, the network-manager applet shows that I am currently connect to the
WLAN network, while I am not. I discovered that both networks share the same
address, so it appears that network-manager uses the address to determine the
current connection, and not the name I used to connect.

The attachment shows both the output of 'iwconfig' and a mouse hovered
over the network-manager icon. It can be seen that network-manager
  lists a different ESSID.
