Title:
[fglrx] Artifacts, Scrambled Pixelation, Tear Out, Poor Performance

Status in Unity:
  Invalid
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Sony Vaio/Edubuntu 11.10
VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650

Installation of Proprietary Driver using Jocky results in scrambled
pixelation when windows are closed (where the window used to be),
artifacts in the panel and elsewhere, along with generally slower and
poorer performance. Gnome Shell is unusable. Panel and other objects
are nothing more than unrecognizable noise. The only resort is a hard
  reboot.

If the drivers are de-activated, occasional artifacts still occur, but
seem to go way once a window moves over them or another activity
resets the pertinent area. Screenshot included.
