I agree with Ken. In the slugfest with M$FT re. OOXML, they are chortling: 'choice of standards' is a GOOD thing.
Let me think about that. Do I really want to have a choice of AC or is it DC when I plug in my toaster?? 120v ....220v. what appliance do I want to fry today? ack. Like 'open', which has similarly been abused by M$FT, <say Office Open XML ten times really fast! ....just before you run out to buy MS-Office 2007, not!> .... ....'choice' has suffered from hyper-use, IMHO. best, /don Don Harbison Program Director, IBM ODF Initiative Business & Technical Strategy IBM Software Group tel:1-978-399-7018 Mobile: +1-978-761-0116 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: Ken VanDine <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Bryan, Shane" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [email protected] Date: 01/17/2008 05:37 PM Subject: Re: [Desktop_architects] RE: [Lf_desktop] LF Desktop Linux Workgroup Conference Call - Minutes1/16 I agree, this is a good place to start. Perhaps we should avoid the "Choice" word there to avoid the being construed as related to abortion... such a touchy topic. So I like "Got options?" --Ken On Thu, 2008-01-17 at 10:23 -0800, Bryan, Shane wrote: > John Walicki wrote: > > Apple can spend $100M on their commercials, the > > LF isn't in a position to do that.
