ah, the FIRST one. right, i was there indeed. thinking of that event, i even 
remember this presentation.

so two years later and we're maybe starting to move on the issue of combined 
strategic thinking beyond just technology implementations. i'm glad this is 
back on the table. while the implementation discussions are obviously of key 
importance, they won't get us appreciably further in our shared goals without 
coordination on topics such as general direction and marketing imho.

so another topic that i would like to raise (but not in this thread, and not 
now, i'm still prepping for linux.conf.au next week) is arriving at a 
strategic vision for the technology platform itself that we can share. i 
actually believe this is not only possible, but not doing it is really 
hurting us. i've talked about this issue at conferences with various people 
from various free software projects over the last two years and while at 
first the concept often is met with "no way, can't be done" after some 
exploration that invariable changes to "ok, we need to do this" =)

and yes, i've had less coffee today. whew!
