Don't underestimate the difficulty of porting non-cross-platform apps.

Look at how long it took Loki Games to port Windows games to Linux,
for instance.  They started coding on Jan 4 1999

and released in May
(see http://apolyton.net/ctp/news/99apr_news.shtml ).
That's four months, not a few days.
