I see that now the maven-shared-components parent pom brings in a SNAPSHOT version of the remote resources plugin. Having a SNAPSHOT dependency in a released artifact is not something that should be allowed (I am not sure if the release plugin will detect a snapshot dependency in a profile from a parent pom, but usually it should not allow you to release anything).
