Well, i think it is a great idea to bring things up to date where stuff is missing. I do know that we (my company) are indexing via Zookeeper but i don't know if we ever committed that patch. I do know that managed schema is not supported anywhere in Nutch, and in some cases documentation is missing. I also remember a mail some time ago of a user who had problems indexing over TLS.
