Exactly, these proprietary firmware is the reason why almost no one can distribute builds.

However you can try to build your own, is not so difficult and also there are step by step guides to do this at mdn.

The only negative is that you have to wait the building time, which is related with your machine abilities.

Are these legal reasons related to proprietary firmware included in
B2G for which Mozilla does not have a license to redistribute outside
its employed developer staff ? I have faced this kind of restriction a
few months ago when employed developers were helping each other in IRC
and solving problems with pre-built images while I could not get
access to those same images to solve the same problems I had with my
GalaxyS2.
