An over the air system update was sent out over the weekend for open market ZTE Open devices (the orange ones sold on eBay) which appears to turn on fastboot.
With fastboot enabled, is there now a simple way for potential contributors who do not work for Mozilla or one of Mozilla's partners to root their device and flash their own builds, to use them for Firefox OS development? How would they go about building or acquiring a build, and what are the steps necessary to flash it onto a device? With the Keon and Peak out of stock it's currently very difficult for contributors to flash their own build to a device available on the open market. The only other option appears to be the Nexus4 which is not yet well supported, is very different to the commercial devices we're launching and may soon be discontinued.
