I received an sms and no notification in the status bar, I discovered the message while opening the app to write one. Still, even if the notification was there I would see it only when powering up the phone.
As I was told before here there is no visual notification while the phone is sleeping like Android has, the blinking led and I think that's a useful feature, you don't need to power the phone to see what you've been missing. I see that led light only when charging or plugging the usb cable.
