Read the posts, this is not a bug but a way of thinking, I mentioned
that at least once and was told it's on the to-do list since it's a
known mess.
I did not ask about the bug as a brush off. Bugs are how we manage all
our work. So the best way to get an improvement made is to make sure
there is a good bug with the right people looking at it.
After some further investigation I ultimately found this bug about
dialing directly from call log:

I'm not sure if that is exactly the issue you were talking about, but it
has been getting active work.
If this is not the issue you were referring to, I'd be happy to help
find the correct bug or write a new one. I'll need your help, though,
with better understanding the problem.
