Ben, lots of people on this list work for Mozilla and hopefully at least 1% of them us a Firefox OS phone and are bothered by unresolved (counter intuitive) UI issues and/or features of this OS. I hope that some of them are close enough to a decision making person in that organization and influence him/her in the right direction as to what is necessary and what's the fastest and most elegant way to achieve it on a phone. You don't need a bug report on this, just someone at Mozilla to bit the shit out of those UI developers until they come out not with the lamest '90's solution but one that is at least as good as Android's or iPhone's. Simple. If this is a bug it is a brain bug and it needs a doctor. I'm sure you mean well.
Just looked at that bug you linked to, it's approximately what I meant but just look at the length of chatter, it started last September and it's not done yet!, for something that is so obviously wrong.
