Jezra, I'm a core project member with Mozilla and have been for about 15 years. The number of times that functionality I appreciated was removed or replaced with different functionality is far too many to count.
The challenge we're faced with is building products that work for potentially billions of people. There's no reasonable way to satisfy everyone and so we make compromises.
The good news is that we have a team of people with lots of experience making these compromises. They really are some of the best in the business.
You've made your point that you're missing this functionality. I'd encourage you to keep your discussion focused on that and to back off from casting aspersions on the people making the decisions.
