The rocket bar doesn't need to be replaceable, it needs to be removable; which in my opinion, would be the biggest improvement to the current "search bar".
Forcing the users to always have a certain application on their homescreen removes the user's choice of how they want to use the homescreen. Decisions such as this should be left up to the users.
